Crystal Palace skipper Luka Milivojevic says his side need to believe in themselves as they prepare for some tough fixtures. Roy Hodgson’s men remain in the top half of the Premier League table, despite failing to win any of their last three matches. The Eagles are ninth as it stands, but two defeats and a draw have pushed them further down the standings.
Their form has allowed rivals Brighton to move level on points, while Manchester United and Tottenham are breathing down their necks.
Palace have managed to win four of their first eleven matches, but defeats to Manchester City and Leicester City have seen the confidence levels drop.
Life does not get any easier for Hodgson’s side either, with a trip to Stamford Bridge to come this weekend. After the game with Chelsea, they then host league-leaders Liverpool before difficult matches against Burnley and Bournemouth.
However, the Serbia international says his side have what it takes to overcome the league’s ‘big boys’.
Palace recorded a famous win against City last year, with Andros Townsend scoring the goal of the season. They denied Liverpool a chance to win the title in 2014, while they have beaten Chelsea on three occasions since 2015.
Palace fans are naturally not expecting much from the two blockbuster games, but Milivojevic has urged the club to believe.
He told Football London: “To be honest, we didn’t expect to lose points against Leicester, but the next two games are very tough. “Chelsea are in very good form, Liverpool are in amazing form. It will be tough, but we have to carry on and believe in ourselves to get something next week. When you think that you are going to get something, we were very confident after the draw against Arsenal, and I think [against Leicester] we played a good game for 80 minutes. “This is the top-level, and we are disappointed, but we have to try to get something from the next few games.”
