Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will seek to overcome a goal-scoring drought when his team travels to Freiburg on Saturday. With 16 goals in 16 games this season, Kane remains the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer, but the numbers contradict a pattern that may concern the league leaders. Kane has not scored from open play since November, a span of seven games across all competitions, but the England captain’s incredible consistency from the spot has obscured the slump.
He has scored two penalties in that time, bringing his total to 27 consecutive spot-kick conversions for club and country dating back to his missed 2022 World Cup quarter-final against France.
Kane and Bayern were dominant with the ball in Wednesday’s 3-0 Champions League loss against Feyenoord, but they failed to convert a number of opportunities. Reported by Sky Sports.
The 31-year-old missed four games in December due to a hamstring strain and appears to be far from fully recovered.

“Of course we need his goals,” Bayern Munich’s sporting director Max Eberl said of Kane.
“He hasn’t scored, but he understands it and is probably more critical of himself than anyone else.
“He’s had many highs and few lows. If anyone can manage a downturn, it’s Harry Kane.
Freiburg coach Julian Schuster stated on Thursday that his team will face a Bayern Munich side that has been hurt by defeat.
“When a team loses, there’s always a little more spice the next time around. And we all know what happens when Bayern loses.”
Schuster’s team is now sixth in his first season as manager. Freiburg is especially strong in their Black Forest home, where they have only lost once in nine games.
