Manchester United‘s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to face 10 days on the sidelines after aggravating a thigh injury during their derby defeat against Manchester City.
The Armenia midfielder, who joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £26.3 million in July, picked up the injury to his left thigh during international duty following a tackle by Czech Republic centre-back Marek Suchy his country’s 3-0 defeat in August.
The injury saw Mkhitaryan substituted during the 2-1 derby for Marcus Rashford at half time, after the injury contributed to his poor first-half performance, with subsequent scans confirming he has aggravated the original issue.
Mkhitaryan, who netted 11 goals in the Bundesliga last season, will now miss Thursday’s Europa League group game against Feyenoord, as well as their Premier League fixture against Watford and the club’s EFL Cup game away to Northampton Town, as reported by The Times.
Though, the midfielder was expected to miss the game against the Dutch side after Mourinho said he’d be making changes to his squad and looking to leave out both Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard.
