Mohamed Salah cleared to play for Liverpool

Liverpool’s record signing Mohamed Salah is now eligible to play for his new club after his visa was confirmed.

The former Chelsea forward returned to English football last month when he moved to the Merseyside club from Roma in a deal worth £39million.

He missed their opening pre-season match – a 4-0 win at nearby Tranmere on Wednesday – after travelling to Paris to secure his visa.

Despite returning to training at Melwood last week, the 25-year-old had to attend a meeting at the British Embassy in the French capital to satisfy immigration rules.

Salah was required to leave the United Kingdom and return again before he could feature for the Reds. Having now arrived back in Merseyside, he is free to take part in the Reds’ remaining pre-season matches.

They return to action on Friday with a visit to the DW Stadium to face Wigan Athletic.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have up to seven games before they begin their Premier League campaign against Watford.

After taking on Wigan, they face Crystal Palace before clashes with Bayern Munich and Athletic Bilbao.
