According to Liverpool.com, Liverpool’s next few weeks will be crucial. Every game will, in fact, serve as a sort of farewell event for Jürgen Klopp until the end of the season: his final encounter with a particular team, his final opportunity to defeat an opponent away from home (this weekend, Brentford), or, above all, the chance to take home the hardware and end the season on a high note.
There are a lot of other things going on as usual. Off the field, Klopp’s departure means there is a lot of work to be done, but Liverpool will soon face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley — a rematch of the 2022 match that saw Caoimhín Kelleher emerge victorious in the penalty shootout.
As the clock ticks down to Klopp’s departure and next game break, Liverpool supporters can concentrate fully on making the most of his time left at Anfield. Meanwhile, club officials and the FSG hierarchy can start making important decisions and making plans. Everyone will still be watching Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso.
In a perfect world, Liverpool would experience the following three events during the next few weeks. Let’s start with the injury situation. Klopp would undoubtedly prefer to see Mohamed Salah return to action as soon as possible. Trent Alexander-Arnold is another player whose most recent injury hopefully won’t keep him sidelined for too long.
Even though Liverpool has mostly been able to manage without the Egyptian forward’s attacking skills during the AFCON and his subsequent injury spell, there was always going to be a certain amount of sadness for him. In a perfect world, Salah would recover in time to play Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
Salah’s progress will probably be updated by Klopp on Friday before the team takes on Brentford in West London this weekend. The Liverpool manager had previously said that Salah could make his comeback following this match, with Luton Town coming to town in between the Brentford and Chelsea games.
Due to an injury sustained against Burnley, Alexander-Arnold had to leave the game at halftime, and Dominik Szoboszlai is currently out as well. Regaining those two by themselves would be extremely beneficial.
Liverpool will be hoping for more at Wembley in less than two weeks, as it is often said that winning the first trophy of the season can set you up for more. Klopp’s team will be aiming to duplicate the triumph it achieved at Anfield in the Premier League towards the end of the previous month when Chelsea takes on the opposition.
All of Liverpool’s current competitions will come to an end in less than seven days. Sunday, May 19, is the last day of the Premier League season, and it will see Wolves return to Anfield. Wednesday, May 22, is the Europa League, and Saturday, May 25, is the FA Cup final. It could be a big week for Klopp to step down.
After Liverpool allowed Arsenal to get back into the game at the Emirates Stadium, the league now looks to be a three-way race. However, Manchester City has some tougher games ahead of them (Pep Guardiola’s team has a run of games that includes Manchester United, Liverpool, Brighton, Arsenal, and Aston Villa). Liverpool and Manchester City will have played each other again by the end of February. On March 10, the Reds will host the holder at Anfield.

Following Jörg Schmadtke’s departure at the end of January, it might make sense for Liverpool to appoint a new sporting director before selecting a new manager. It would be good to have information about the potential new sporting director before the campaign ends.
Who replaces Klopp may be revealed by the appointment of a new sporting director, but Alonso seems to be the favorite in any case. The former Reds midfielder is probably going to keep making an impression as long as Liverpool supporters watch Bayer Leverkusen’s games. The case for him joining Anfield is already compelling, even if he fails to win the Bundesliga and make history as the first head coach since Klopp to win the league title with a team other than Bayern Munich.
