Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is determined to sign Bernardo Silva this summer and is prioritising the playmaker ahead of other Monaco stars.
United have been heavily linked with a number of Monaco players this season, most notably Kylian Mbappe and Timeoue Bakayoko.
The Ligue 1 giants are on course to reclaim the league title from Paris Saint-Germain and take on Juventus in the semi-finals of the Champions League this week.
Silva, 22, has been at the forefront of Monaco’s season and has eight goals in 48 appearances for Leonardo Jardim’s men this term.
While the Red Devils maintain a strong interest in Mbappe, Silva now tops Mourinho’s wishlist going into this summer’s transfer window, according to the Independent.
The 54-year-old is said to be impressed with the Portugal international’s work-rate and believes Silva could play on United’s right flank next season.
That would provide Mourinho the opportunity to play Henrikh Mkhitaryan in his favoured number 10 position and would mean less defensive work for the Armenian.
Mourinho will be handed significant funds to invest in his squad this summer and the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney are expected to leave, freeing up huge space on the wage bill.
