Mourinho denies claims Adidas will help Man Utd fund move for Messi

Jose Mourinho hopes Lionel Messi ends his career at Barcelona amid suggestions that sportswear manufacturers Adidas could help Manchester United fund a move for the Argentine superstar.

Report in Spain have claimed that Adidas, who both manufacture United’s shirts and sponsor Messi, are eager to bring their two hottest properties together and help the Red Devils finance a transfer for the 29-year-old.

Rivals Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have also been touted as interested in signing the five time world player of the year, who will see his current contract expire in 2018.

However Mourinho has indicated that there is no chance of United bringing in the South American as he wants to see Messi end his career with Barcelona, describing the attack retiring at the Nou Camp as “beautiful”.

When asked about the rumours Mourinho said, according to the Manchester Evening News: “Lionel Messi is every season the same story, that he’s going to leave.

“Honestly, I hope he never leaves. I think he belongs to Barca and Barca belong to him.

“I think it would be beautiful for him to start and finish his career at Barcelona. I think he will stay but that’s just a personal opinion.”

Messi has eight goals this season in La Liga but Barcelona find themselves behind Mourinho’s old side Real Madrid in the race to win the title this campaign.
