Jose Mourinho believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s excellent Premier League form proves he has a “superman” mentality.
Ibrahimovic has competed in the Dutch, Italian, Spanish and French league while representing the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan and Juventus but now faces the strenuous task of keeping himself fit and conditioned throughout the extensive English season.
The Swede is obviously in the latter stages of his career but remains such a physically imposing character, with the same technical ability that he possessed at the peak of his career.
Mourinho said, as reported by BBC Sport: “I’m so pleased for him [Zlatan]. He is the kind of player who doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone but when he decided to come to England for the last period of his career – to the most difficult championship in the world – I think he proved he is a superman in his mentality.
“What he is doing at 35 is a dream for every striker of 25 in the Premier League. I need to give him a rest. Now we have a little rest for the first time. It is not just him but everybody.
Ibrahimovic scored his tenth and eleventh Premier League goal in United’s 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, on his way to picking up the Man of the Match award.
The striker could have been shown a red card in the first half after a ferocious aerial challenge on Craig Dawson, in which he flattened his opponent with his shoulder, but he received a yellow for the tackle.
That aggression, along with his trickery on the ball, was infectious in the win over the Baggies as he led his side to success over a resilient West Brom outfit.
