Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out the possibility of managing Manchester United next season.
The former Chelsea boss remains the favourite to be the boss at Old Trafford for the first game of the new campaign but doubts have began to emerge.
Reports suggest that Ed Woodward remains uncertain on sacking Louis van Gaal and could leave him to see out the final year of his contract.
But Mourinho, who intends to be back in management this summer, has remained coy on his future and has hinted that he could still take the job.
Mourinho arrived in Mexico on Tuesday night, where he is managing a FIFA legends team, to discover that United had blown their golden chance to jump into the top four by losing to West Ham.
He said he only found out the result when he checked into his hotel.
When asked if it would affect his future, the Daily Mail report him to have said: “There is plenty of time.”
It has now been five months since Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea after seeing his side languish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
During his visit to Mexico, the Portuguese has flown to the country to meet with FIFA president Gianni Infantino ahead of the Congress of football’s governing body.
Mourinho will manage a combined male and female FIFA Legends side including Luis Figo and Ronaldinho against a Mexico All Stars team at the Azteca Stadium this week.
He will also attend Friday’s FIFA Congress, which will be Infantino’s first as new president.
Mourinho’s alleged move to United was thrown into doubt during the week.
The transfer of Benfica starlet Renato Sanches to Bayern Munich, who was tipped to go to Old Trafford, has seen speculation gather pace that Mourinho may not be joining the Premier League giants.
Sanches, 18, shares an agent with the Special One, and was expected to become his first signing should he take the reins at United.
Van Gaal can lead his side into the top four with victory at West Ham this evening, and is also preparing for an FA Cup final date against Crystal Palace.
