Marcus Rashford has been staying on for an extra half an hour after Manchester United‘s training sessions to work on his free-kicks, according to manager Jose Mourinho.
The England international scored a sublime winner for the Red Devils tonight as they beat Celta Vigo 1-0 to put them in the driving seat of this Europa League semi-final tie.
United will now be big favourites to go through to the final as they prepare to take on Celta at Old Trafford next week, and the result owed much to Rashford’s quality throughout.
The 19-year-old has long been regarded as one of the best young talents in the game, and Mourinho has revealed just how much work he’s been putting in to be able to score a free-kick like the one that decided the game.
‘He is a 19 year old kid, but a 19-year-old kid who is in love with football,’ Mourinho said after the game.
‘He finishes a training session and stays half an hour more to take free kicks.
‘It’s his mentality. He works, works, works, he is very mature. Forget get the age – it’s not about the age, it’s quality.’
