Manchester United will need to act quickly if they want to make Sofyan Amrabat their third signing of the summer transfer season, as their previous manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly plotting a shocking hijack of the deal for Fenerbahce.
Erik ten Hag persuaded Manchester United to sign Amrabat last summer, and he arrived at Old Trafford on a season-long loan from Fiorentina for £8.5 million. The deal also includes Manchester United’s option to buy the defensive midfielder for £21 million this summer.

Amrabat went on to feature in 30 games for Manchester United last season, 21 of which were in the Premier League.
Manchester United executives were not instantly convinced to exercise their £21 million buy option, but they are eager to engage with Fiorentina about a transaction at a lower price.
If such conversations commence, Sir Jim Ratcliffe appears to have little trouble agreeing on personal terms with the 27-year-old.
However, Manchester United’s potential deal for Amrabat is now under threat. According to sources in the Italian press, Fenerbahce has jumped into the pursuit for the player since Jose Mourinho is a great fan of his.
Fenerbahce are’serious’ about signing Amrabat, a deal that would cost Manchester United and demonstrate to Ratcliffe how swiftly the transfer market moves.
Mourinho aims to facilitate Amrabat’s transfer by contacting him directly and convincing him to join the Turkish club.
The renowned Portuguese manager sees Amrabat as a crucial signing as his Fenerbahce team looks to advance in the Champions League and reclaim the Super Lig championship from rivals Galatasaray.
Fenerbahce is ready to meet Mourinho’s requests and has started talks with both Amrabat’s camp and Fiorentina ‘with force’.
