Moyes confirms Sunderland want to sign Fellaini and Januzaj

Sunderland manager David Moyes has confirmed his interest in signing Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj from former club Manchester United.

Moyes has yet to make any signings since being appointed Sunderland boss, but he is eager to add to his squad with Fellaini and Januzaj emerging as potential candidates to bolster the Black Cats’ ranks.

Both players are hugely familiar with Moyes, with the Scotsman having signed Fellaini for United from Everton in 2013, while he provided Januzaj with several opportunities to impress.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Moyes said: “They’re excellent players. We’re interested but I’m sure there’s a load of other clubs that are as well.

“We’re interested in lots of good players. You have to have a realistic view. There’ll be some players we can attract just now and some players we can’t.

“We’ll try and get the ones we can and the ones who want to come here and start on the new journey we’re on.”

Fellaini has struggled for consistency since joining United and has been heavily criticised by some of the club’s supporters, but it remains to be seen whether new manager Jose Mourinho will allow the midfielder – who had an average pass accuracy of 83% in the Premier League last season – to depart.
