Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller believes Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona can be good for the European game.
After submitting a transfer demand this week, Messi’s father is said to have been in talks with Manchester City and PSG.
Muller said: “Apart from Barcelona fans, as I understand it, no one sees this in a bad way, but are instead curious about what new avenues can be opened.
“The day Messi and Barcelona go their separate ways must come at some point.
“Of course, it was thought that it would be the end of his career, but now it seems to be different.
“Lionel Messi is one of the best footballers on the planet, perhaps even the best in the last 100 years, although everyone will have their own opinion. If you ask Pelé, he would see things a little differently! Now there will be a change, and it could be interesting for football.”
