Rafael Nadal says he doesn’t know if he will be able to play in the ATP Finals after pulling out of the Paris Masters. The world number two was forced to withdraw from the event in the French capital with an abdominal problem ahead of his semi-final match with Denis Shapovalov on Saturday. Nadal remains hopeful he will be able to compete in the season-ending showpiece in London but at this stage he cannot offer any guarantees. He told reporters: “Because it is a muscle injury, the first few hours are so difficult to see because it’s liquid there and it’s difficult to see exactly how big is the issue, no? So [I] need to wait this period of time to have a clear idea about what’s going on. “I really hope it’s nothing too big, and the doctors believe that it’s nothing too big. But of course if it’s big enough to not be 100% recovered for in one week [for the ATP Finals], it’s a chance [of missing the tournament].”
