Despite Victor Osimhen’s ties to Chelsea, Napoli appear to be close to acquiring a new striker.
The Blues are still expected to make a move in the January transfer window. And it appears like manager Mauricio Pochettino will aim to strengthen the striker position in the second half of the season.
Chelsea have Nicolas Jackson on international duty with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. With the club’s star striker unavailable for the next few weeks, there are continued links around the possibility of signing a new forward.

Victor Gyokeres of Sporting CP has been reported as a prospective Chelsea target, but football.london knows the club has no interest. Osimhen, who helped Napoli win the Serie A title last season, is another player being linked with a move to the city.
With the potential of Osimhen leaving the club this month or in the summer, Napoli appear to be preparing for life without their No. 9. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A team has reached an agreement with Hellas Verona to sign forward Cyril Ngonge.
According to reports, the two clubs have agreed on a cost of €18 million (£15.5 million). However, it is unclear whether Ngonge’s presence would have a direct impact on Osimhen’s future at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The striker has scored 67 goals in 119 appearances for Napoli and says that he has the full support of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
“I am happy with the president (De Laurentiis),” Osimhen told Sky Sports Italy. I have a really good relationship with him, he has always been close to me since I arrived at Napoli in 2020 and I also have an excellent relationship with his family.
