Wales back-row Josh Navidi’s World Cup is over after sustaining a hamstring injury in Sunday’s victory over France. The Cardiff Blues star emerged as Warren Gatland’s favoured number eight at the competition in Japan, however, he won’t feature in the semi-final clash with South Africa on Sunday. Navidi was forced off with a hamstring complaint in the 20-19 quarter-final win over France at Oita Stadium on Sunday. Ross Moriarty came on as his replacement and is the most likely to earn a berth in the starting XV when they bid for a spot in next month’s final. Gatland has confirmed that he will be calling up a replacement for Navidi but hinted it will more than likely be an additional back. Wales are blessed with a variety of options at number eight with Aaron Shingler and Aaron Wainwright capable of providing cover alongside Moriarty.
