Neville Admits Liverpool’s Title Chances, Names Two Things That Could Stop Them

Gary Neville has finally admitted that Liverpool are now the clear favourites to win the 2024-25 Premier League title and as he warned two factors could harm their chances of landing their 20th top-flight crown.

The Reds’ victory over Manchester City gave them a significant advantage in the fight for the title.

To increase their lead at the top of the table, Arne Slot’s team defeated City 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Etihad Stadium. Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai’s goals sealed the victory, putting Liverpool 11 points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League standings having played one more game.

According to Liverpool Echo, during his time on the microphone, the former Manchester United defender was questioned about what could prevent the Reds from winning their 20th league championship.

“Complacency and injuries, I think, are the two things [that could stop Liverpool]. I can’t see complacency – they’ve got a lot of experience, they’ve looked completely in control,” said Neville during commentary on Sky Sports.

“They’ve adapted pretty well all season, which is the only thing.

The one thing you would say is that the team that are behind you would be waiting there for you, and the team that are behind them [Arsenal] are not there waiting for them. They’re fumbling around.

“You said it’s been a filthy night in Manchester – those rain that you can see are tears from heaven that Liverpool are gonna win a 20th league title.”
