Newcastle United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Everton attacker Anthony Gordon in a deal worth up to £45 million.
The 21-year-old’s future has sparked a lot of talk in recent weeks as Chelsea and Newcastle compete to lure him away from Goodison Park.
The Blues attempted and failed to sign Gordon during the summer transfer window after being told by the Toffees that a sale would cost £60m.
Graham Potter’s side were expected to renew their interest this month, but they instead pursued other targets such as Joao Felix, David Datro Fofana, and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
As a result, Newcastle jumped to the front of the queue for Gordon, who is widely expected to leave the relegation-threatened Toffees.
According to Sky Sports News, Newcastle and Everton have agreed to a deal worth an initial £40m, which could rise to £45m with add-ons.
Gordon has made headlines as part of his transfer saga after failing to show up for training three days in a row between Tuesday and Thursday, despite the fact that his absence on the first day was supposedly planned.

However, the attacker was not permitted to skip training on Wednesday or Thursday, but he showed up on Friday and, according to Everton sources, trained as normal.
However, the report also states that Gordon did not train with the team on Friday because he informed Everton’s management that he had no desire to play for the team again and was determined to leave in January.
Nevertheless, no further stumbling blocks are expected as Gordon prepares to leave Everton 13 years after joining from Liverpool’s academy.
