Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion are mulling over to whether offer Frank Lampard a one-year deal if either gain promotion to the Premier League this season.
The 38-year-old former England international recently announced his departure from MLS outfit New York City FC.
Lampard played in 31 matches for the American side scoring 15 goals and creating a further four for his teammates.
Interest from both Championship clubs, according to the Express, is understandable given the Londoners wealth of experience in the English top-flight.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benítez has also previously worked with him time as Chelsea’s interim boss in which he guided the Blues to Europa League glory in 2013.
Since graduating from West Ham’s esteemed academy the midfielder has registered 609 appearances in the Premier League which puts him second in the all-time list behind Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs (632).
He is also fourth on the all-time top scorers chart with 177 goals with only Andy Cole (187), Wayne Rooney (194) and Alan Shearer (260) ahead of him.
