Newcastle Target James Maddison Received ‘Concrete Offer’

Newcastle ,Despite the fact that he is in the final year of his contract with Leicester City, James Maddison has stated that it is ‘time for a holiday with family and friends’.

Maddison’s long journey came to a close on Monday night with England’s 7-0 Euro qualifier success against North Macedonia at Old Trafford. Maddison has been granted extended time off by demoted Leicester, whose non-internationals will reassemble on July 3 for the first day of pre-season training according to Talksport

Although Maddison is unlikely to play in the Championship next season, Leicester have never been pushed into moving key players. In fact, despite the need for finances to rejuvenate a stale roster, Leicester held out until the last day of the summer transfer season to allow Wesley Fofana depart to Chelsea.

When it comes to Maddison, there may be one or two parallels with Newcastle’s pursuit of another long-term target, Sven Botman, last year, when Lille had a greater asking price than the Magpies. A deal was subsequently struck with Lille, and Botman cut short his vacation in Mallorca to relocate to Newcastle before the end of June.

Twelve months later, Maddison has also travelled to Ibiza, a Balearic island, as Newcastle and Tottenham compete for the 26-year-old.

“Long season over,” Maddison wrote on Twitter. “It’s time to relax with family and friends.”

Both Newcastle and Tottenham are aware that Maddison is only a short flight away if they can strike an agreement with Leicester, who are demanding more than £50 million for the offensive midfielder, despite the fact that he is out of contract next summer.
