Newcastle Given Green Light to Make Move For £21m Serie A Star As Howe Eyes More Signings

One of Newcastle United’s star players is reportedly considering a summer sale after generating significant interest in January.

If Newcastle is to have enough money to bring in some new players, then every option should be investigated for the next window, and some first-team players may become available.

Journalist Ben Jacobs stated in an interview with GiveMeSport that although Newcastle had already accepted an offer from Al Shabab in January, they would consider taking offers for Miguel Almiron if the proper amount was offered.

Newcastle could have to be very ruthless this summer

With Champions League money already coming in and Newcastle receiving funds from commercial deals like the one with Adidas that will start for the upcoming season, it’s unknown at this time what Newcastle’s finances will look like for the summer window.

But with two Premier League clubs already receiving point punishments this season, it appears that spending restrictions are only growing tighter, therefore Newcastle will need to exercise extreme caution.

Almiron is probably on the top of the list right now if they have to get rid of any sellable assets that aren’t absolutely essential to Newcastle’s success in the future.

The £21m winger has massively underperformed this season with just three goals and one assist in the league, so should they receive another decent off for the Paraguayan there’s a good chance he could leave Newcastle this summer.

On Almiron, Jacobs said: “They will entertain the sale of Miguel Almiron. I mentioned in January that Al-Shabab had a verbal agreement with Newcastle for around €30million.

Almiron won’t be the last to leave Newcastle

It entirely depends on what kind of fees Newcastle can get from these players, but it’s unlikely that Almiron is the only player who is moved on this summer if they are planning some big moves.

Callum Wilson is another name who has been mentioned who could garner a decent price given his goalscoring record, and with just one year left on his contract they won’t want the striker to walk away for free.

Newcastle may also have to free up some space in the midfield, especially if they want to bring in a new defensive midfielder, so Sean Longstaff could be made available with Leeds already showing interest for around £15m.

Eddie Howe won’t want to sell all three and risk upsetting the changing room atmosphere, but at some point they must move on from unreliable players who aren’t massively improving the first team.
