Journalist Alex Crook has told GiveMeSport that Newcastle United are interested in making a move for Manchester United star Harry Maguire
This season has been difficult for the English international at Old Trafford. Despite being club captain, he rotates through the starting eleven.
This season, he has made 13 appearances, only seven of which have been starts. Erik Ten Haag, the new manager, has decided to put other defenders ahead of him.
This new transfer update comes as no surprise. Newcastle seems like they’ll be playing in Europe next season, so they’ll need some depth.
Crook, a journalist, was asked if he thought the English center-back will depart United in the summer. “Yeah, I think so,” he told GiveMeSport. It’s a matter of how much money they can collect for Maguire. He needs to get out there and play. Newcastle and West Ham have both expressed interest.

“I think, probably, they would be good moves for him. It’s best for all concerned that he moves on.”
With Maguire’s lack of game time, Crook is definitely right in think its best for both him and Manchester United if he moves on. He is on £189,000 a week, which is just under £10 million a year. This is far too much for a bench player at the club.
Maguire, who United bought for £85m, has been poor this season – even branded “embarrassing” by Alan Shearer. He has been captained England and Manchester United, however, and that leadership could help the Toon.
