Newcastle United are reportedly willing to make a move for Bournemouth defender, Lloyd Kelly ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Caught Offside, Kelly is in the sight of Newcastle, who are keen to strengthen their defense before the next season.
To ensure that their defense has sufficient depth and talent, the Magpies intend to sign the 25-year-old for a low price.
Kelly progressed through the ranks at Bristol City before joining Bournemouth in the summer of 2019.
He never looked back after making the switch. And in the preceding seasons, he was a vital member of their first squad.
It is unlikely that he will sign a new contract with the Cherries before his current one runs out in the summer.
In a few months, Kelly will become a free agent, and Newcastle hope to capitalize on this.
Sven Botman’s long-term injury meant that the Magpies needed a central defender immediately.
It seems, though, that things have gotten worse for them now that Jamaal Lascelles has joined him on the sidelines.
Due to a serious knee injury, the Newcastle captain will be sidelined for approximately nine months.
The Magpies had to alter their summer plans due to the 30-year-old’s injury. And they are currently attempting to add two new centre-backs.
Fabian Schar is the only dependable first-choice central defender Eddie Howe has available right now.

Kelly’s signing is therefore being pushed for by the Magpies. They wish to make a stronger effort to sign the soon-to-be free agent.
The 25-year-old will give Howe additional options by giving their central defense more depth and the ability to also play as a left-back.
