Newcastle United midfielder, Joelinton is reportedly a major doubt for Wednesday Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal.
According to The Shields Gazette, due to a knee problem, the Brazilian was substituted out of Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Fulham and was seen on Sunday at the training facility sporting a brace.
However, during his pregame press conference, Magpies head coach Eddie Howe quickly downplayed the seriousness of Joelinton’s injury.
“Joey had a knee brace on as a precaution, he’s out of it now,” Howe said. “I would say he is a doubt, but we will give him every chance to be fit.

“Our centre midfield, we have good strength in depth – Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock – they all bring something different.”
Callum Wilson could return after missing eight weeks due to a hamstring injury, but Joelinton is doubtful. Ahead of the match against Arsenal, the striker is back in training and could be benched.
“There’s a chance,” Howe said. “So we’ve got another important training day today, let’s get through training before we make a decision on him.”
With goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in last month’s victory at the Emirates Stadium, Newcastle lead 2-0 going into the second leg of the semi-final at St. James’ Park.
The Toons are hoping to make it to their second Carabao Cup final in three seasons.
