Ryan Fraser hopes to make the loan move from Newcastle United to Southampton permanent this summer.
During his 2023-24 loan term, the 30-year-old winger helped Southampton return to the Premier League via the Championship Play-Offs, scoring eight goals in 44 games.
Fraser has been declared surplus to needs at Newcastle after being locked out of the first team, and he will be free to leave the club this summer. Following his loan term, the former AFC Bournemouth player sent a message to Southampton fans, hinting at a possible summer move.
“Saints fans, what can I say?” Fraser posted on Instagram. “From the moment I arrived at this incredible club until now, we have achieved our shared goal of being promoted to the Premier League.”
“To be able to celebrate with you all in such an extraordinary fashion at Wembley Stadium is something I could only dream of. I can’t thank you all enough for helping to make this year one of the best of my life!
“From the manager, who has helped the entire club come together in so many ways, both on and off the pitch, creating a family atmosphere for all of us. Every staff member contributes to the club’s progress on a daily basis. To my teammates, with whom I have made many excellent friends. (Except for Arma [Adam Armstrong]. “Who knows what this summer will bring hopefully we can spend next season together making more history but if not then I wish nothing but the best for this club going forward♥️.”
