Newcastle United Star Admits Liverpool Have Proven Him Wrong

Newcastle United striker, Callum Wilson, has acknowledged he needs to apologize after saying something very wrong recently about Liverpool.

Speaking on The Footballer’ Football Podcast, the England international apologized for incorrectly claiming the Reds were not “back” following their recent victory over the Magpies at St. James’ Park.

Goals from Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo ensured Liverpool ran out winners against Eddie Howe’s side and ultimately inflicted the first loss on their turf in this campaign.

Wilson can now see that Liverpool, who humiliated Manchester United 7-0 at the weekend, are indeed returning to their best.

As they destroyed Erik ten Hag’s team, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez each scored twice, resembling the Jurgen Klopp’s era at Anfield that was once so dominant and electrifying to witness.

It still doesn’t look entirely straightforward for LFC to finish in the top four, but they’re certainly in a better position now than they were a few weeks ago, and Wilson thinks they do now look like they’re back to their best.

“I apologise for saying that Liverpool aren’t back. They’re back with a bang!” Wilson said.

“Anything I say at the minute the universe shows the opposite.”

A much improved Liverpool will kick-start the game-week 27 when they visit Bournemouth at the Vitality stadium, before they travel to Spain to play the return leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
