Neymar Claims Kylian Mbappé Felt ‘Jealous’ After Lionel Messi Joined Paris Saint Germain

In a podcast hosted by World Cup winner Romário, striker Neymar, who currently plays for Saudi club Al-Hilal, stated that his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappé became “a little jealous” after superstar Lionel Messi joined the French club on a free transfer in August 2021. Neymar also mentioned that PSG’s performance in big matches was affected by big egos.

“No, he is not. I have my things with him, we had a little fight, but he was fundamental for us when he arrived. I used to call him golden boy. I always played with him, said he was going to be one of the best. I always helped, talked to him, he came to my place, we had dinner together,” Neymar said.

“We had some good years of partnership, but after Messi came he was a little jealous. He didn’t want to split me with anyone. Then there were several clashes and a change in demeanor,” the Brazilian athlete explained.

Mbappé joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, the same year that Neymar moved from Barcelona to the French club in one of the most significant deals in soccer history. According To Telegram.

Both were signed as the club pursued its first Champions League title, something it has yet to achieve. Neymar stated that the team frequently struggled owing to large egos, but did not identify anyone.

“It’s fine to have egos, but you must understand that you’re not playing alone. There should be another guy on your side. “(Big) egos were almost everywhere; it couldn’t work,” Neymar stated.

“If nobody runs and nobody helps, it is impossible to win anything.”
