Neymar has reportedly sacrificed an eye-watering £52 million in order to leave Saudi Arabia ahead of returning to his boyhood club Santos.
The former Barcelona star paid a record £77 million to join Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, but after suffering a terrible ACL injury and other setbacks, he only made seven appearances in 18 months.
After Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar was the most well-known player to join the Saudi Pro League. Yet, his tenure in the Middle East will be remembered as a lackluster phase in a complex career.
In his quest to become the greatest football player in the world, the 32-year-old Brazilian left Santos to sign with Barcelona in 2013, and he now seeks to revive his career with the team. However, there will be a price for Neymar’s home return.

According to ESPN, he will lose out on a further £52 million in pay after mutually deciding to end his contract with Al-Hilal.
According to the explanation, the former captain of Brazil might partially be compensated by joining an investment fund that own interests in Santos with his father.
Though not yet official, his return to the Brazilian giants is anticipated to be revealed in the days ahead.
Al-Hilal, who won the Saudi Pro League last season amid Neymar’s protracted absence said in a statement released on Monday.
“The club expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career at Al-Hilal, and wish the player success in his career.”
