Nolito flies into England to complete £13.8m move to Man City

Spain winger Nolito has flown into England over a potential summer transfer to the two-time Premier League champions Manchester City, according to Squawka reports.

Last week, City triggered a £13.8 million release clause in the 29-year-old’s contract at La Liga outfit Celta Vigo as Pep Guardiola continues to add players to his squad following Ilkay Gundogan’s recent arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

The Spaniard impressed greatly in La Liga last season, attracting interest from both Arsenal and Barcelona, but it is City who seem to have won the race to acquire his signature.

The Telegraph are reporting that Nolito has flown to England today to put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract with the Etihad Stadium outfit and will undergo his medical within the next 24 hours.

The 29-year-old finished the 2015-2016 La Liga season with 12 goals in 29 appearances for Celta and that earned him a call-up to the La Roja squad for this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament, where he scored once in their four games.

That goal came in their 3-0 group stage win over Turkey, but he was unable to to find the net again as the holders crashed out at the last-16 stage at the hands of Italy in a repeat of the 2012 final.

In La Liga, Nolito created 60 chances which was the most in the Celta Vigo squad, while he created eight chances in the European Championships – the third highest in the Spain squad – level with Chelsea star, Cesc Fabregas.

The forward will add an extra dimension to City’s attack next season, but with Sergio Aguero the star striker in Guardiola’s squad, it will be interesting to see where Nolito fits in, especially with Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne the three regulars behind the Argentine.
