Norwich 1-3 Manchester United

Manchester United had two penalties saved but still emerged with a comfortable success from Carrow Road. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both found Tim Krul too good from 12 yards in the opening half after VAR had intervened to hand the Red Devils a pair of penalties.
The United front pair still managed to find the net in either half after Scott McTominay had opened the scoring midway through the first period.
The Canaries meanwhile will be left to ponder what might have been, with Todd Cantwell having missed a gilt-edged chance to put them in front while the contest was scoreless.
That chance arrived on five minutes. Max Aarons drove down the right flank and his perfect cut back was into the path of Cantwell, who blazed over the crossbar.
Krul was on hand with a quick-fire double save to deny Rashford first and then Martial as the 20-minute barrier was passed but Norwich’s resistance was broken soon after.
Pereira’s ball in from the right rolled loose and McTominay swivelled before shooting low into the corner for a milestone goal, Manchester United’s 2000^th in the Premier League; the first team to achieve the tally.
It should have been 2001 shortly after. Ben Godfrey toppled Daniel James in the box and while Stuart Atwell initially waved away the penalty appeals, VAR had a look and reversed the on-field decision.
Krul went down to his right and turned away Rashford’s effort, leaving Norwich feeling vindicated after what appeared a soft award.
Rashford had his goal on the half-hour, running onto a super pass from James and beating Krul with ease this time.
On the stroke of half-time, Fred’s shot was adjudged to have hit Cantwell on the arm and VAR made the penalty call. Martial stepped up this time but Krul was his equal too. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have now failed with four of six penalties this season.
Norwich were unable to find a way back into the game, despite Krul’s efforts. Midway through the second half, Rashford and Martial linked up with some superb interplay and the Frenchman applied a perfect dinked finish to seal the points.
In the final minute, Norwich got on the scoresheet. Onel Hernandez stole possession from McTominay before going on a solo run and finishing past David de Gea.
Ultimately it was a smooth success for the visiting side though, despite their increasing woes from the penalty spot.
