Norwich set to watch Greek winger Masouras again

Norwich are set to scout Olympiakos winger Giorgos Masouras again, just days after a Canaries official was in attendance at his match against Bayern Munich. Reports in Greece have confirmed that a Norwich scout was in Piraeus on Tuesday for the Champions League Group B clash between Olympiakos and Bayern, which finished 3-2 to the German side.
And Sportime.gr now report that Norwich will be one of three Premier League clubs to scout the huge domestic clash between Olympiakos and AEK Athens at Stadio Georgios Karaiskaki later.
Masouras has been linked to City for some time and was the focus of transfer rumours after the Canaries sent spies to Greece to watch Olympiakos’ match against Tottenham Hotspur in September.
The 25-year-old stayed in Greece and has been a regular for Olympiakos in the Champions League, starting all nine of their qualifying and group matches.
But while he was often used on the right-hand side last season, Masouras has switched to the left wing for the majority of his game-time this season and that makes him very interesting to Daniel Farke.
Farke admitted he tried to sign Welsh winger Daniel James from Swansea City in the summer but called the hunt off when Manchester United pushed to the front of the queue with a £15million offer.
James appears to have been the left-winger Farke wanted and, although Todd Cantwell has done well in that position this season, he may still be on the lookout for an international-class option there.
Masouras is a full Greece international and may not have been ready to leave his home country in the summer – or chance his arm with a move to Norwich if he had doubts about City’s ability to stay up.
However, once Olympiakos’ Champions League involvement is over in December, Norwich might try to lure him to England for a fresh challenge.
