The numbers behind PFA Player of the Year Kante’s incredible season at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been crowned PFA Player of the Year for 2016/17.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues from Leicester for £32million last summer and has quickly established himself as a key figure in Antonio Conte’s midfield ranks.

The France international, who beat the likes of Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexis Sanchez to the accolade, may be an unassuming presence off the pitch but he is a force on it.

Kante has won 23 of his 31 top-flight appearances this season to help Chelsea climb to the top of the Premier League table with just six games left to play.

Kante’s energy is second to none and he has dominated many a midfield battle, making a total of 110 tackles.

The midfielder has made 72 interceptions – more than any other Chelsea player – while his passing tally stands at an impressive 1,899.

Kante is also vying to become the first player to win successive Premier League titles with two different clubs, having enjoyed success with the Foxes last term.
