Nunez Issues Apology For His “Ugly Attitude” Against Andersen

Darwin Nunez has apologized for his red card incident in Monday’s Premier League tie with Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Benfica summer acquisition was sent off for headbutting Palace defender Joachim Andersen in the second half.

Nunez will now be suspended for Liverpool’s upcoming three games, including a key meeting against Manchester United.

After Nunez was sent off, the Reds did manage to salvage a draw thanks to a fantastic equalizer from Luis Diaz.

How Did Nunez Apologize?

The striker took to Twitter with a message to Liverpool fans in response to his red card.

“I am aware of the ugly attitude I had,” he tweeted.

“I’m here to learn from my mistakes and it won’t happen again,” he said in a separate tweet.

Nunez will miss Liverpool’s upcoming match at Manchester United as well as games against Bournemouth and Newcastle United in the Premier League.

What Is Klopp’s Take On The Situation?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said Nunez was wrong at Anfield, but hopes the new signing will learn from his error.

“I wanted to see the situation first.”

Klopp continued; “I didn’t know what happened. I saw Andersen on the floor and Darwin walking away.

“That was my view. So I asked our guys, I saw it and yes it was a red card, the wrong reaction.

“Andersen wanted that and he got it, but Darwin made a mistake. A little provocation here and there, and definitely the wrong reaction. I can’t deny that.

“He will learn from that. Unfortunately he will have a few games to do so, which is not cool for us, even less with our specific situation, but it is what it is.”
