The CEO of Buruj Sports Academy, Dr. Salaudeen Waheed has described the impending move of youngster Chidi Nwabuisi to Turkish giants Besiktas as the perfect birthday gift for himself after brokering the deal.
Speaking from Istanbul on Wednesday, Dr Waheed said: “Today is my birthday and I think the best birthday gift is the successful conclusion of this deal because it signifies a breakthrough for all our international trips. And, I’m sure, this is just the beginning.”
Nwabuisi trained with the Besiktas U-21s for the first time on Tuesday alongside the twin sons of former Super Eagles coach Daniel Amokachi who also play as forwards and gave a good account of themselves while the session lasted.
Speaking on his experience, Chidi, expressed gratitude to the Managing Director of Buruj Sports Academy for being a father-figure in his career development so far and challenged all young players that want to make it big in football to link up with the Ikorodu-based academy.
He also expressed delight for the opportunity of playing alongside the extremely talented sons of a soccer legend like Daniel Amokachi who played 77 games for the Turkish giants between 1996 and 1999, scoring 17 goals.
After learning the ropes at Buruj Sports Academy for about one year, Nwabuisi impressed in some of the matches he played for the young Buruj side and he was a big revelation at the Dubai International Super Cup in the United Arab Emirates in March this year.
The young goal-poacher who clocked 18 last June, is be first among other players of the academy who will benefit from their recent European tours and Dr. Salaudeen has vowed to help the rest of the players to actualise their dreams of playing professional football abroad.
Meanwhile, Dr Salaudeen Waheed has hinted that he is in talks with some European scouts who are watching the proceedings at Besiktas training ground and very soon, other players who can register to train at the academy will be exposed to foreign trials that can lead to their career advancement.
He was also happy with the warm reception accorded the player by officials of the 14-times Turkish league winners.
“The officials on ground here are so happy to have Chidi around to train with their youth side and because of what we know he can do, he will soon break into their main team. Hopefully, Chidi Stanley will be first among many that we are going to help to fulfil their dreams and in no distant future, things will begin to shape up for their career advancement,” he said.
