Odegaard still expects two-year Sociedad stay

Martin Odegaard has reiterated he wants to stay at Real Sociedad for the full two years on loan as he gets ready to facing parent club Real Madrid this month. Odegaard joined Sociedad on a two-year deal from Los Blancos in July and has made a big impact at the club, scoring two goals and getting three assists in 11 La Liga games so far this season.
The 20-year-old has previously said he plans to stay at the Reale Arena for the full two-year loan period and he has reiterated that stance, even if he knows things can change quickly in football.
He said: “I am very happy here to be here for two years. That length of time was very important for me, because I have changed a lot, and it is not good to change too much. My plan is to stay here for two years, but it depends on many things.”
Odegaard has only made one senior start for Real Madrid and one other substitute appearance after arriving in 2015 from Stromsgodset, when he was talked up as the latest teenage wonderkid.
The youngster has since had loan spells at Heerenveen and Vitesse but will be keen to eventually establish himself with the La Liga giants, who he will line up against for Sociedad on November 23.
Odegaard admits he’s looking forward to the clash at the Bernabeu against players he knows well and has previously worked with at close hand. “It will be a bit special for me,” he added on Radio Marca. “I still have friends there and I talk to the players.”
