Former Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann officially becomes the German national team head coach.
Nagelsmann signed a short-term deal with the national team which will allow him to leave the role after the 2024 European Championship.
The 35-year-old succeeded the axed Hansi Flick after just nine months at the helm. The young manager will now lead Germany in the Euros which is hosted by them.
According to an Irish publication, The 42, Nagelsmann was hailed as “an outstanding coach” by the head of the German Football Association (DFB), Bernd Neuendorf.
He said: “We are convinced (he) will ensure that the national team inspires its fans and that the Euros are also a sporting success.”
“We have a European Championship in our own country — that’s something special,” Nagelsmann said in a statement.
“I have a great desire to take on this challenge.”
When Flick was axed earlier this month, he made history by becoming the first coach in Germany’s national team football history to be fired.
Prior to his removal, he had only triumphed in four of 17 games. Leading the squad to a humiliating group-stage exit at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

After an embarrassing 4-1 friendly defeat to Japan in Wolfsburg in early September, Flick was fired.
Nagelsmann, who also took over from Flick as Bayern’s head coach, has been unemployed since the German champions fired him in March.
