Sergio Aguero etched his name into the Premier League history books on November 4, 2018 after notching his 150th league goal for Manchester City. City welcomed Southampton to the Etihad Stadium for top-flight action in November last year for an old-fashioned 3pm kick-off and the hosts put on a show for the packed home crowd, netting six times in a thumping 6-1 victory.
Wesley Hoedt stuck through his own net to put the Citizens 1-0 up just six minutes into the contest before a moment of history was made in the 12th minute when Argentina international Aguero became just the ninth player to score 150 Premier League goals.
After some neat work down the right flank by Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling weaved his into the penalty before cutting a ball back for the on-rushing Aguero, who slammed home from inside the six-yard box.
Spanish midfielder David Silva made it 3-0 in the 18th minute before Danny Ings gave the traveling support some hope when converting a penalty just before the half-hour mark after he was brought down by Ederson.
However, a brace from England international Sterling either side of half-time and a 91st-minute Leroy Sane goal completed the rout for City, making it 10 wins on the spin in all competitions.
The game will be fondly remembered for that record strike from Aguero and he has continued his sensational form for the defending Premier League champions.
Since that goal against the Saints, the 31-year-old has netted a further 23 times in the league, taking his overall tally to 173 from 249 games. His goals-to-game ratio of 0.69 is the joint-highest in Premier League history alongside Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
Aguero has scored 244 goals in all competitions for City, leaving him way ahead in the club’s all-time scoring charts.

Ironically, City played host to Southampton at the weekend, just under 12 months on from the 6-1 thrashing, and the Citizens left it late to record a 2-1 win.
Aguero scored his ninth league goal of the campaign and is just one behind Golden Boot leader Jamie Vardy, who netted Leicester City’s second in a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
