When it comes to creativity, only Lionel Messi is ahead of Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand.
Since joining United as a free agent in the summer of 2022, Eriksen has surprised many, with his reassuring presence in the middle of the field sorely missed when he was forced to miss time due to an ankle injury.
During the previous season and the initial stages of the 2022–23 campaign, the odd question was posed of the Portuguese playmaker, as the Red Devils struggled for consistency as a team.
However, the 28-year-old has remained a talismanic presence for United, despite Erik ten Hag dropping him into a deeper role at times this season.
He now has 60 goals and 52 assists through 175 Premier League appearances for the Premier League heavyweights after starring once again in a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

An impressed Ferdinand labels Fernandes as one of the very best in the business, telling his Vibe with FIVE YouTube channel: “His passing, he’s creating chances.
“His stats, only Messi rivals him in terms of goal involvements since he signed for United. I’m not saying he is on Messi’s level, no one is saying that Bruno is on Messi’s level, he’s not. But only Messi is above him in those stats.
“He needs [Christian] Eriksen to get to that other level. Eriksen the amount of easy passes he makes that are just great for team-mates.”
50/50 – Since his Man Utd debut in February 2020, Bruno Fernandes is one of just two players in the big-five European leagues to register at least 50 goals (60) and 50 assists (50) across all competitions, after Lionel Messi (80G, 59A). Bullseye. pic.twitter.com/EsXn10FHuS
