Nwaiwu Onyedikachi was the cynosure of all eyes on Wednesday at the Ijebu Ode stadium as Buruj Sports Academy were thrashed 3-1 by Nigerian Premier League side Remo Stars in a friendly game.
Such was the impact of Onyedikachi that Remo Stars owner Kunle Soname was forced to ask for more details about the club with a view to helping him make a successful switch to Europe.”
According to Buruj Sports CEO Dr Salahudeen Waheed, a move abroad is imminent for the player who’d spent the last couple of seasons on loan at FC Ifeanyi Ubah as well as Ikorodu United.
“Onyekachi (Nwaiwu) actually showed why he’s so highly rated with his performance against Remo Stars. He played in attacking midfield and was a massive influence for us. The free-kick he also scored was world-class and I can confirm that he will soon be on his way to Europe. We received a request from Mr Soname for information and documents about our player. Soname is a man of integrity and a friend of many years standing so Buruj is happy to do business with him,” Dr Salahudeen said.
Another player who impressed was captain Babajide Adams Ilelaboye who played as a defender. He brilliantly marshaled his defence and restricted Remo Stars to taking long distance shots.
This performance delighted Salahudeen who vowed to ensure that Buruj players are exposed to a wider audience to showcase their talents always.
Salahudeen said: “I think Adams Ilelaboye was outstanding too but this was not just about his performance against Remo Stars. He’s demonstrated a level of consistency that you know it is just a matter of time before he’s whisked off by bigger teams. I’m happy because that is the reason for our existing. Save his name because you’ll be hearing much more about him in the nearest future.”
The game against Remo Stars was the latest in a long list of games designed to help keep Buruj Sports Academy in good shape for their upcoming trip to the United Kingdom.
