Oosthuizen targets rest ahead of weekend charge

Louis Oosthuizen says he needs to recharge the batteries this evening after giving up the lead on day two of the Nedbank Challenge. After shooting a sensational nine-under-par 63 on Thursday to open an early three-shot lead, Oosthuizen revealed he spent time in hospital on Wednesday due to kidney stones and was on his knees at 3.00am before his opening round, unsure whether he would be able to compete. The 37-year-old South African, who is chasing his first Nedbank win, failed to fire on all cylinders on Friday as he mixed three birdies with as many bogeys for a level-par 72. Oosthuizen currently occupies second place, leaving him two strokes behind compatriot Zander Lombard, and the 2010 Open champion admits he was feeling it around the course during his second round. “Definitely more fatigued today, especially the last six, seven holes,” he told the European Tour. “The tee shot on the 14th, I hit it on the right side. I think it was more muscle related than anything else. “The stones have passed, I just need to get some rest and play good tomorrow. It was scruffy, I didn’t play great. It was tough, the wind was all over the place and I just didn’t hit the good shots. Hopefully tomorrow it’s a bit better.”
