Former Chelsea star Oscar suffered the humiliation of twice missing a penalty to equalise in the Asian Champions League.
The Brazilian picked up the ball in a bid to bring Shanghai SIPG level against Urawa Reds but failed twice to hand the Japanese side the win.
After Rafael Silva’s first-half strike, Oscar earned his first chance from the spot by attracting contact to earn a foul inside the box, but Shusaku Nishikawa brilliantly denied him by tipping the shot on to the crossbar.
Just 14 minutes later Oscar had another chance to salvage the game, but this time skied his effort well over the bar.
The defeat leaves the Red Eagles joint-top of Group F ahead of Seoul and Western Sydney Warriors.
Oscar has scored two goals in nine games for his new side since joining in a £51m deal from Chelsea in January.
Shanghai SIPG have made a good start to the Chinese Super League, with three wins and a draw from their opening four matches to sit second in the table behind Guangzhou R&F.
