Ozil named Arsenal’s Player of the Month for February

Arsenal have announced that Mesut Ozil has won February’s Player of the Month award for the fourth time this season.

Ozil provided his 18th assist of the campaign last month as the Gunners endured an extremely testing month in all
competitions.

As announced on the club’s official website, the Germany international came out on top in a vote between himself, Petr Cech and Danny Welbeck.

The 27-year-old playmaker received 36% of the supporters’ votes while the 33-year-old goalkeeper was not far behind with 26%.

Ozil played in all four of Arsenal’s Premier League fixtures during February, in which he scored twice and created 24
chances – taking his total tally for the season in that department to a staggering 111.

Of those 24 chances, he assisted two more goals and is now only two away from equalling Thierry Henry’s Premier League record of 20 assists in a single season.

Furthermore, Ozil was involved in both goals at Old Trafford last Sunday as he crossed for Welbeck to score against his former side and then netted a consolation effort in the second half, shortly after Ander Herrera had scored Manchester United’s third.

The World Cup winner also hit all four of his shots on target in the top flight last month while he completed 85% of his passes.

The only poor thing from Ozil’s month – on a personal level – was the number of tackles he won as the former Real Madrid midfielder won just one out of nine attempted efforts.
