Mesut Ozil will stay at Arsenal this summer with his agent revealing that the midfielder is keen to see out his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 31-year-old, who is contracted at Arsenal until 2021, has not played a single minute since the restart but has no intention of looking for a new club.
Ozil is on a whopping £350,000-a-week salary at Arsenal – making him one of the Premier League’s highest paid players – but he has been used sparingly this season and managed just one goal.
The official word from Arsenal regarding Ozil’s omission in recent months is that he has been struggling with a back injury but there are doubts as to whether Mikel Arteta has the player in his first-team plans.
There had been some expectation that Ozil could be offloaded this summer if Arsenal could find a suitable buyer but the midfielder’s agent has now ruled out the possibility of him leaving before his deal runs out.
‘I don’t think Mesut will leave before the summer of 2021,’ Erkut Sogut told Fanatik.
‘He’s got an ongoing contract that hasn’t changed. He will stay with Arsenal.’
Sogut did however confirm that Ozil will likely leave the Gunners next summer once he becomes a free agent.
He added: ‘When his deal is up, I estimate there is a ninety percent chance he will leave Arsenal.
‘Maybe Asia, America, Turkey? Who knows.’
Fenerbahce have previously been linked with Ozil but have always been priced out of a move for him.
Last month, reports surfaced claiming that Fenerbahce chief Kemal Danabas was considering launching a crowdfunding campaign where fans could donate money to help fund their move for Ozil.
It is understood that Ozil’s preference would be to sign for a team in the Turkish top-flight or the MLS next summer.
