Palmer Delivers Cold Response Following His Panenka Penalty Against Tottenham

Cole Palmer emerged as the player of the match for Chelsea once against during their victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Marc Cucurella made some early errors that put the Blues behind 2-0 against Ange Postecoglou’s team.

But against their London rivals, Palmer, 22, led his team to a remarkable 4-3 victory.

With two goals and one assist against the North London side, the former Manchester City player gave his team three points and kept them in second place in the Premier League.

One of the penalty goals, was a cheeky Panenka penalty against Fraser Forster, the goalkeeper.

According to Caught Offside, the Chelsea star gave an explanation of his decision to chip the Tottenham shot-stopper in order to score the penalty after the game.

“When I’ve stepped back looked at the clock and thought the game’s a bit frantic. The keeper was ready to dive so I chipped it,” Palmer told Sky Sports, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“I’m just trying to score and thankfully it went in,” he added.

Chelsea’s victory was a statement and demonstrated once more how much they have progressed under manager Enzo Maresca’s tutelage.

Since his summer move, the Italian has dramatically changed the club and improved their fortunes.

Liverpool lead the league with four points ahead of the Blues, who have played one game more.

Chelsea are now ahead of Arsenal by two points after Mikel Arteta’s side drew Fulham 1-1 at Craven Cottage.
