Patient approach from Snoddy

Taking things one game at a time has to be the approach for West Ham to achieve their potential, according to Robert Snodgrass. The Scot, who called time on his international career earlier this month, was brought back into the Hammers’ starting line-up for Saturday’s visit of Sheffield United.
Snodgrass took his chance in what was just his second Premier League start of the season, opening the scoring on 44 minutes, latching onto Andriy Yarmolenko’s through ball and sliding past Dean Henderson.
The Blades hit back in the second half through Lys Mousset but almost lost their unbeaten record away from home when the 32-year-old slid in at the back post late on, only to see his effort cannon off the upright.
Settling for a 1-1 draw meant Manuel Pellegrini’s men are now on a run of five games without a win in all competitions, leaving them 10th in the table.
Inevitably, a fear that another season of not reaching their potential is starting to sink in among the fans, having been fifth after September’s 2-0 home win over Manchester United.
Snodgrass will hope to have done enough to keep his place in the starting XI for Saturday’s visit of Newcastle and a victory could spark some momentum ahead of a tough run of games, with Burnley, Tottenham, Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers on the agenda.
The former Leeds, Hull and Norwich man is not looking too far ahead though, with his focus on taking the season one game at a time. “I think we’re ten games in and have got 28 games left. I think we just take each game as it comes, really,” he told the club’s website. “The Premier League is tough and no team is going to just give you it. I’ve played more than enough games to know we’ll come back next week and try to put it right against Newcastle.”
