Pogba joined United as a 16-year-old, went through the academy, and seemed destined to be a star of the future.
However, in 2012, he departed on a free transfer to join Juventus, a team dominated by Italians because Ferguson did not see fit to give him more playing time.
The next year, Ferguson announced his retirement and Pogba made a name for himself as one of the finest midfield players in Europe.
He won four Serie A titles with Juventus before returning to United for a Premier League record-breaking £89 million transfer fee.
Many United supporters were thrilled to see Pogba back but Evra has said he never felt the Glazers, the club’s owners, were recruiting him for the right reasons.
In fact, he even pushed for his fellow Frenchman to sign with Real Madrid, reports Mail Online.
During an interview on the Stick to Football podcast, which is presented by Sky Bet, Evra stated that Manchester United brought Paul Pogba back with the intention of humiliating Sir Alex Ferguson.
Paul wanted Real Madrid and Madrid wanted him, but Florentino Pérez wouldn’t pay the money, so I warned him not to go back.
He signed with him without notifying me when his agency called United. It was more commercial than anything on the field but the club was thrilled because they were selling jerseys and you know how much the youngsters loved Pogba.
In addition to knowing Pogba from their time together at Juventus, Evra worked at United for more than eight years, from 2006 to 2014.
