Mathias Pogba will serve the balance of his sentence on home arrest with electronic monitoring, having previously served time in custody.
The prosecution’s request is complied with by this sentencing. He will challenge the decision, his attorney added.
On Thursday, the Paris criminal court heard the case without the former Juventus and Manchester United star present.
A court ordered Mathias Pogba and five other persons to stand trial in 2022 after an inquiry into whether the midfielder was targeted for extortion by his brother Mathias and boyhood pals.
Mathias Pogba faced trial last month “for attempted extortion and criminal conspiracy.”
The five others, known only by their first names, sought 13 million euros (£10.75 million) from the France player, who was seized at gunpoint by hooded men in March 2022.
The defendants continuously threatened Paul Pogba, alleging he should have backed them after becoming a global soccer superstar, reports Irish examiner.
They were charged with extortion, kidnapping, and imprisonment to aid a crime, as well as criminal conspiracy.
