Paul Scholes Advises Ten Hag To Drop Two Man United Stars, Favours Ronaldo To Start Against Everton

After his performance against Omonia, Man United icon Paul Scholes believes Cristiano Ronaldo should start for the Red Devils against Everton on Sunday.

Karim Ansarifard gave the Cypriot team a 1-0 lead at the break, giving Erik ten Hag’s team an early scare. However, Man Utd fought back in the second half to record a 3-2 victory.

At halftime, Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score a second-half brace. Anthony Martial, another substitute, scored the other goal.

Ronaldo produced a good performance on Thursday night, contributing an assist, but he has only started one Premier League match this campaign.

However, Scholes believes that Man Utd manager Ten Hag could play Ronaldo against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, benching Jadon Sancho and Antony.

Will Ronaldo Start For Man United Against Everton?

Scholes was asked if he could imagine Ronaldo playing in a front three against Everton. Scholes responded on BT Sport: “I can on Sunday, yeah.

“I think the impression the two subs [Rashford and Martial] have made tonight with Cristiano as well. There aren’t a lot of games Cristiano will be able to play in but I think Everton could be one of them.

“It’s not a massive pitch, he won’t have to be sprinting out everywhere, working the channels.

“When he’s got two wide lads who have got goals in them, I think the two wide lads that played today, Jadon Sancho and Antony, I know Antony scored on Sunday [against Man City], but I think Martial and Rashford look more dangerous.

“I think they’ve got a little bit more about them, they can go either way, they’re quick. Defenders will be frightened to death of them.

“Cristiano, okay, he had a lot of chances tonight, it didn’t quite work for him. It wasn’t quite his night, but that won’t happen for long with Cristiano. If he gets chances, if he gets chances on Sunday he will score.”
