Chelsea star Pedro believes Diego Costa could not have done more to prove his worth to Antonio Conte amid ongoing uncertainty about the striker’s future.
The Brazil-born forward spearheaded Chelsea’s attack last season as they swept aside the competition to claim their second league title in three seasons.
Conte, however, is ready to discard the 28-year-old ,who has scored 52 goals in 89 Premier League appearances, and is said to have sent the former Atletico Madrid star a text message informing Costa he is not in his plans for the coming season.
Conte and Costa are believed to have fallen out in January when the Spain international was dropped amid reports of a training ground row and rumours linking the player with a move to China, but Pedro insists he believes the pair enjoy a solid working relationship.
‘I don’t know what type of relationship Diego has with the manager but I think it’s a good one,’ Pedro told Cadena Ser.
‘Diego has played in every competition, he has achieved all the goals that the manager has set him.
‘In the changing room and on the pitch, we haven’t seen anything unusual between Diego and the manager.’
