Pep Guardiola, the City manager, has refuted rumors that Erling Haaland’s contract contains a release clause that would enable him to sign with Real Madrid in 2024.
According to reports in Spain, the Norwegian has a specific agreement with the Sky Blues specifically relating to Los Blancos. However, it now appears they were wide of the mark.
City defeated Copenhagen 5-0 last night in the Champions League thanks to another superb Haaland performance.

Will Haaland Go To Real Madrid?
In the summer, City had to outbid a number of teams, including Real, to sign the striker. Reports from Spanish outlet Marca had suggested part of the reason for this was a release clause written into Haaland’s contract that would allow him to leave for Madrid in the summer of 2024 if an offer of £174m was received for his services.
The cost would decrease to £152m if they waited another year, however Guardiola has categorically denied the claims.
“It is not true,” Guardiola confirmed after the match. “He does not have a release clause for Real Madrid or any other team.
